Drive Traffic.

Now that we’ve learned about the process of setting up an e-commerce store and getting consumers to shop there, Zero Up™ Module 5 dives into the social media and advertising techniques for sustaining and increasing traffic to your site. This module is very important to understand because, in order to be successful, you need to drive traffic to your site and ultimately sell things.

After the first few videos, which explain the processes of setting up and establishing your presence through social media, Fred then jumps into targeting specific audiences and pushing your brand. I found this part to be really fun. Fred gives a blueprint of how to figure out who we should be marketing to — in other words, our demographic. Of course, you can make an educated guess as to who those people are, but there are ways to more accurately pinpoint your demographic. Fred shows us how to use keywords and Facebook intelligence to do it.

However, while this section is enjoyable, it is also the most strenuous and challenging. There is a lot of research and many steps you must complete in order to successfully advertise your business. There’s also a wide range of ads, prices, sizes, etc., that you’ll have to choose from when you set up each ad. As Fred’s said throughout the whole training, you really do have to put the effort in if you want your e-commerce business to be successful. Luckily he does give us very clear guidance on how to do it.

What I’ve Learnt.

My biggest takeaway from Module 5 is to start with a small advertising budget and see what works. Fred does a good job sharing examples of how to start small and figure out what to do next when considering budget and strategy based on what you learned from Facebook Analytics.

As a business major, I was able to skim through some of the videos, but if you are brand new to the business, there is a ton of information that you won’t want to miss so I recommend you watch every second. And even if you are familiar with e-commerce, it’s a great review if you want one.

With all of this being said, the overall concepts and steps Fred shows are extremely beneficial, and I now feel confident in my ability to create a sales funnel and advertise using social media platforms. The knowledge I took from these lessons definitely increased my business IQ.
